Climate Strike at Moheshkhali Upozila Parishad Premises(1.6)
With the support of Global Platform Bangladesh, SADA Bangladesh for the 6th time organized a Youth led climate strike at Countries only one digital island Moheshkhali on 19/08/2022. This climate strike was demonstrated to raise awareness among the people of coastal areas regarding climate change and its impact on the coastal areas. The theme of this strike was “YOUNG PEOPLE FOR CLIMATE ACTION NOW”. Local Activista, local people, journalists, teachers and writers are participated in that strike from Moheshkhali. The young Activista welcomed the local government to participate with them in the strike as well.
ANM Hasan (Journalist), Enamul Hoque (Journalist), Sheikh Abdullah (Journalist), Ishrat MD Shahjahan (Journalist), Monir Bin Sultan (Teacher), Hamid Hossen (Columnist), Activistas, students were present in the Climate Strike held at that time.
At this time, the speakers said that global climate change has appeared as a crisis. It affects not only the poor and developing countries but also the developed countries. They said that Bangladesh is one of the countries affected by the climate crisis and Bangladesh is not getting the compensation that it should get as an affected country.
In the president’s speech, Coordinator Moheshkhali region – SADA Helal Uddin Helal said that “We live on an island, and the coastal Area’s people are in a very critical situation due to climate change. ASAP, we need ‘Sustainable embankments’. He raised his words to stop the Matarbari coal power project.
